A Round-up from Lisa…

Hello all,

WOW – what a summer we have had.

We had a lovely Gentian lunch at Moreton Hall – I can recommend it for events.  Slightly lower than normal turnout but those who came very much enjoyed it.  Thank you caterers (all of whom were Gentian holders themselves).  I have had to promise them a year off in 2027 😊.

Many adults went to the region event at Kingston Maurward.  Another successful day which we hope to use a blueprint for a county event.

I called in to the Brownie Water Sports event on a slightly overcast day but it was warm – and they were wet!  Everyone was having amazing fun.  The Guides had an equally great day on the Sunday.

Last Sunday a select group of Rangers and Young Leaders paddle boarded around Brownsea.  The weather was beautiful and, although I couldn’t be there, I received regular updates from the team.  Thank you adults for giving up your time to take the young members and to Eloise our star adventure organiser.

The weather did not look so good for the Poole monopoly run and yet miraculously we stayed dry.  Over 200 people took part and came and help me fish for crabs, including the County President. Thank you to the  organising/crabbing team Emma, Jenny, Sarah, Angela and Clare.  Badges for those of you who missed out are now in.  Please give Alison time to get these sorted.

We are looking forward to the Shaftesbury and Gillingham Show and the Dorset County Show in the next couple of months.  Please do speak to Emma (growth@girlguidingdorset.org.uk) if you can help on one of the days.

And finally… I am not camping or going on Brownie holiday this year but I know many of you will be.  I am saving myself for PGL in September.

I hope you all have great times in the outdoors whatever you are doing and then get a bit of a rest before the new term.

I am off to order a new County Commissioner badge as I’ve run out of blue ones….I wonder what this one will say?

Thank you for all you do both in your own areas and across the county.

Best Wishes,

Lisa
