| An Update from Carolyn |

Hello everyone! Back refreshed from my cruise and heading into the Autumn still with this unseasonably warm dry weather. I hope that you have all settled back into your units and have lots of fun activities planned as the nights draw in and we move towards the festive period.
I was pleased to be invited to attend a Rugby Event in my own division of West Dorset, in my capacity as what I am now locally and fondly referred to as “The Big Boss”! I came away with a badge and a Barbie Bag, possibly my new trademark – what do you think?!
Our very own Commissioners Day will be held on 6th February 2027 so please “save the date” now!
We have our Glass workshops to look forward to on 25th October and a new adult event booked in for Saturday 8th May 2027 to try your hand at Painting – more details on the County website.
INTops selection is almost upon us and the details have recently been sent to your Division Commissioners. The County weekend will be 12-14th March 2027 at Dudsbury.
Many of the Blue Team members are working on their plans for 2027 and ideas are beginning to take shape in the area for D of E, Property, International, Going Away with, Young Leaders, EDI and Queens Guide.
Watch this space and keep your eye on the website and Facebook page.
However, we will be without a Learning and Development Lead from 1st November when Clare Nathan finally steps down for a well-earned rest. L&D will then come to me but Pat Wilson will continue to co-ordinate the LQ, mentor allocation and sign offs.
It does mean that the County will then be without a Lead to oversee our training and personal development, which is such a crucial part of ensuring that we stay current and continue to provide a good standard of girl led guiding.
I therefore make no apology for once again requesting that you look to consider whether you or anyone in your area, or a couple of you, could step up to fill this and other vacancies. We do need to ensure that we have a team to move our wonderful County forward over the next 5 years.
Fresh from my first Region Operations Committee I am now preparing for my first full County Executive and Blue Team meetings over the next couple of weeks!
See you in November.
Kind regards
Carolyn Harmer
